Purpose by Pomelo-876 (2)

Fashion brand Pomelo announces first ever permanent eco-friendly collection

With the success of Pomelo’s 2018 sustainable collection, Purpose, the brand has now decided that the eco-friendly collection is here to stay, making Purpose apart of its permanent assortment. “Pomelo’s Purpose collection is so named as it presents us with an opportunity to lead the way in terms of bringing sustainable materials and processes to the fashion industry in the region,” says the brand’s CEO, David Jou.

Pomelo are not only sourcing environmentally-conscious materials like organic linen, Better Cotton Initiative cotton (BCI cotton for short), and natural dyes, but also using product packaging with 60% less plastic. Another step into the socially-responsible direction, Pomelo’s new collection is made in factories that have passed Pomelo’s audit for humane and safe work conditions.

In Jou’s words,  “Purpose is a collection that brings the best of tech, sustainability, and design together to form a beautiful collection of minimal but fashionable pieces. We’re very excited to continue to bring innovation to this very important topic.”

THE MOOD

Butterfly Mood Board - Tastemaker Status

BUTTERFLIES

These amazing insects have always fascinated the public with their wide array of colors, patterns, and shapes, and fashion designers are no exception. As a matter of fact, butterflies have been gracing the runway periodically for years now, from Elsa Schiaparelli’s butterfly adorned blazer and hat in 1947, to Thierry Mugler’s butterfly-winged gown in 1997, to Alexander McQueen’s butterfly infested headgear in 2008. Thanks to the coming of fashion-consumer age of millennials, who grew up with Lisa Frank’s rainbow-colored world, we are seeing a resurgence of 90’s fads which includes the butterfly and all its glory.

Runway - Butterfly Fashion

Butterfly Palette

The butterfly trend gets a update with bold shades of black and a new sophisticated-take on rainbow brights. Pale shades of pink, purple, and green can stand out on their own or tone-down with deep, grounding shades of blue and black.

Butterfly Colors

Butterfly Texture

Between beautiful colors, luminescent textures, and loose, vivid patterns, there is plenty of inspiration to be drawn from butterflies for fabrication. Try metallic brocades, watercolor-patterned chiffons, and vibrant-hued silks to get that butterfly look.
